The type species (holotype) of the genus Dasyopsis is Dasyopsis plana (C.Agardh) Zanardini ex Falkenberg.

Status of Name
This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Dasya stanleyi (Weber Bosse) A.J.K.Millar.
