General Environment
This is a marine species.
Description
Membranous, tufted, bright red fronds, to 100 mm long. Frond with conspicuous midrib and wavy margin, to 6 mm wide, repeatedly branched from midrib, apices blunt. Numerous microscopic veins, at wide angle from midrib.
Habitat
On rock and epiphytic, lower intertidal and subtidal, widely distributed, occasional. Apoglossocolax pusilla Maggs et Hommersand, a minute parasite to 2 mm in diameter, rarely (Dorset and Galway) occurs on this species.
