Type locality: "På Mexicanska stranden af Stilla Oceanen", St. Augustin, San Agustín, Oaxaca, Mexico; (Silva & al. 1996: 119) Holotype: Liebmann; Agardhian Herbarium of the Botanical Museum, University of Lund, Sweden; on sheet 54018 (Dawson 1953: 36) Notes: fide type speciment in LD. Dawson (1953: 36) notes an isotype is in the Botanical Museum, Copenhagen, and isotype slides are in HAHF.

Participle B (Latin), green (Stearn 1983).
