Usage note
In Australia, Durvillaea potatorum is distributed from Robe in South Australia to Bermagui in New South Wales. On the west coast of King Island cast plants are harvested for processing and supply to Kelco Alginates, Girvan,Scotland. Plants can grow up to 6 m in length and can reach 200 kg in weight (although not typical). Average annual harvest is 20 - 25,000 tonnes wet weight. - (11 May 2006) - G.M. Guiry
