According to Silva et al. (1996: 720) the name Vaucheria marina has been misapplied to this species by Nizamuddin (1968b: 472, figs. 42-47) and Shameel & J.Tanaka (1992: 6). Listed as a synonym of Vaucheria velutina var. separata by Christensen (1987). - (11 May 2006) - G.M. Guiry
