Nomenclatural note
"It is possible that Jania ungulata is conspecific with, and thus a heterotypic synonym of, J. pedunculata but no final conclusions can be reached in the absence of a designated lectotype and epitype for J. ungulata along with comparisons of type and other material referred to the two species. Molecular sequence data apparently also are lacking for both species." (Woelkerling, Harvery & Reviers 2015: 1290). - (14 January 2016) - M.D. Guiry
