Distributional note
Warm waters of the western Indian Ocean and Red Sea (Lipkin & Silva 2002). This species migrated about 130 years ago into the Mediterranean via the Suez Canal, where it presently occurs mostly in the eastern basin (see Lipkin 1975a, b), although there have since been reports from Sicily, mainland Italy and Tunisia. - (25 June 2010) - G.M.
