Type Information
Type locality: near Cayenne, French Guiana; (Montagne 1840: 198) Lectotype (designated by King and Puttock 1989): F.R. Leprieur 361; MEL; 672285A (King & Puttock 1989: 25) Notes: PC0046492 (Isolectotype). However, the PC specimen is more likely the holotype and the MEL specimen a duplicate and no lectotypification was necessary or desirable.
Origin of Species Name
Participle (Latin), rooting, putting forth aerial roots (Stearn 1983).
