The type species (lectotype) of the genus Laminaria is Laminaria digitata (Hudson) J.V.Lamouroux.
Status of Name
This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Saccharina cichorioides f. coriacea (Miyabe) Selivanova, Zhigadlova & G.I.Hansen.
