The type species (lectotype) of the genus Laminaria is Laminaria digitata (Hudson) J.V.Lamouroux.
Status of Name
This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Saccharina japonica var. diabolica (Miyabe) N.Yotsukura, S.Kawashima, T.Kawai, T.Abe & L.D.Druehl.
