Nomenclatural note
"The name of this combination proposed by Bertoloni (1862: 89), based on Lomentaria reflexa Chauvin, is superfluous because of the author quoted Gigartina pygmaea J.V. Lamouroux as a synonym. However, the binomial isn't illegitimate but incorrect because of it has a basionym (Art. 52.4 of ICN, Turland et al., 2018)." (Cormaci, Furnari & Alongi 2021: 204). - (23 August 2021) - M.D. Guiry
Habitat note
Epilithic and epiphytic, especially on Corallina; littoral and upper sublittoral; sandy, well-lit pools (Irvine & Guiry in Irvine,1983). Sand-covered rocks; low to mid intertidal of sites from moderatel to highly wave-exposed (Diaz-Tapia, 2014). - (05 August 2014) - G.M. Guiry
