Distributional note
This species has been introduced into the Mediterranean (Verlaque et al. 2015: 93) being first found in Corsica prior to 1988. According to these authors the species is "invasive: contributed to the formation of extensive pluri-specific filamentous aggregates." Not widespread in Corsica and has spread to the coast of Monaco. - (04 November 2015) - M.D. Guiry

On Posidonia leaves at depths of 20 m and 30 m; epiphytic on Cystoseira (25 m and 9 m depth) and on Halopteris sp (20 m depth) (Hoffmann et al. 2000). - (01 November 2011) - G.M. Guiry
