Nomenclatural note
New name for Corallina verrucosa Zanardini 1840, nom. illeg.; not Amphiroa verrucosa J.V.Lamouroux, 1816. "Cresce come la precedente, e talvolta si rinviene sulle alghe maggiori." [It grows like the previous, and sometimes it is found on the major algae.] - (27 January 2017) - M.D. Guiry
Taxonomic note
"This species was considered by most Mediterranean phycologists as a synonym of A. cryptarthrodia; however, because of the recent paper by Rosas-Alquicira et al. (2010) in which the distinction between the two species was proposed based on the study of original material, it is necessary a re-examination of herbarium specimens in order to ascertain if both species or only one of them occur(s) in a certain area." (Cormaci, Furnari & Alongi 2017: 226). - (11 May 2006) - G.M. Guiry
