Nomenclatural note
Choristocarpus tenellus is generally attributed to (Kützing) Zanardini. But Ectocarpus tenellus Kützing (1849: 457), the intended basionym of this species, is illegitimate being a later homonym of E. tenellus (Kützing) Zanardini (1847: 62), a name of uncertain application. C. tenellus should be treated as nom. nov., in accordance to art. 58.3 of I.C.B.N. (Greuter et al., 1994). - (11 May 2006) - G.M. Guiry
